Dr Batra’s popularity as a deeply-passionate sports administrator saw him win an overwhelming 58 votes out of the 62 people who cast their vote at the 134th IOC session in Lausanne on Wednesday. He was among the ten members who had been proposed to be elected by the IOC as it’s Member by the Executive Board of the IOC.

Dr Batra is also the first and the only Indian to lead the International Hockey Federation (FIH) as it’s President. He has been a long-serving, integral leader of sports administration in India and has led the way with path-breaking initiatives.

Further, Dr. Narinder Dhruv Batra is the first Indian to be President of any Summer or Winter Olympic Body.
